The cameras people regret are the cheap wireless ones. They drop off the wi-fi, the batteries die in winter, and the one night you actually need the footage there is nothing on the card. A hardwired system runs power and data down one cable to each camera, records continuously to a box inside your house, and does not care about your wi-fi. It costs more to install because someone has to get into the roof and do the cabling properly — which is most of what you are paying an electrician for.
Had Marcus out to our place in Payneham South to mount a TV and install networking and WiFi access points. Top notch job and everything working great.
Had Marcus from Amped Up Electrical Adelaide come to our property in Mile End, he did an excellent job mounting our TV. He was punctual, professional, and took the time to make sure everything was perfectly level and neatly finished. The installation was clean, with great attention to detail, and he left the area spotless afterwards. Communication was easy from start to finish, and the quality of workmanship was outstanding. It’s refreshing to deal with an Electrician who turns up when he says he will and genuinely takes pride in his work. Highly recommend Marcus and Amped Up Electrical Adelaide for anyone needing electrical work or TV mounting done. Will definitely use him again. Thank you Marcus for all of your help!
Marcus is professional, friendly and competent. He identified a significant issue with old electrical work in my house that I had no idea existed. I thoroughly recommend him
The cameras are the easy part. The job is the cabling and the positions:
I have done these on houses and on commercial sites, and the commercial ones are usually more about coverage of yards and access points than anything clever.
Residential jobs are typically a handful of cameras covering the front, the driveway, a side gate and the back yard, recording to a small unit in a cupboard or the garage. Commercial work tends to be wider — yard coverage, gates, loading areas, a recorder in a comms rack, and often data points and access control in the same visit because the cabling is already going in.
Because I am an electrician rather than a security-only installer, the power side, the data side and any switchboard work happen in one visit with one person responsible for it.
If someone is already in your roof pulling data cable, it is the cheapest time you will ever get to add the other points you have been meaning to do — a hardwired point for a TV or console, a wi-fi access point in the dead spot at the back of the house, a run out to a shed or studio. Worth mentioning when I quote the cameras rather than paying for the same roof access twice.
When you call, you speak to me. When I arrive, it's me doing the work. Licensed electrician on every job — never handed off. The person who quotes the job is the person who does it.

Tell me what you need and your suburb — I'll get back to you fast.
For anything you actually rely on, yes. Hardwired cameras get power and video down one cable, record continuously, and do not drop off your wi-fi or run out of battery. Wireless is fine as a doorbell or a temporary look at one spot. It is not a security system.
Most homes land on a handful — front, driveway, a side gate and the back. What matters more than the count is covering the approaches rather than pointing everything at the front door. I will walk the property with you and work it out on site.
Yes, and I set that up and test it with you before I leave rather than emailing you an app to figure out. You will know how to pull up live view and how to find footage from a particular time.
That depends on how many cameras, what resolution, and how busy the site is — a quiet house keeps far more days than a busy yard on the same recorder. I size the recorder for a realistic number of days and tell you what that number is.
Yes, both. Commercial sites are usually about yard and access-point coverage, a recorder in a comms rack, and often data points or access control in the same visit. Our insurance schedule specifically covers security camera work.
Yes, and it is the sensible time to do it. Once the cabling is going in, adding data points, an access point or door hardware is far cheaper than paying for the same roof access again later.
