Your Prospect electrician, based just up the road in Vale Park

I'm Marcus, the owner-operator behind Amped Up Electrical Adelaide. I'm based in Vale Park, a genuinely short drive from Prospect, so getting to a job on Prospect Road or a quiet residential street off it is an easy run rather than a trek across the city.

Prospect is one of the more characterful inner-north suburbs — Art Deco and Californian bungalows lining the streets, with Prospect Road's cafe and dining strip stitching the whole place together. Those homes are lovely, but a lot of them were wired for a very different era. Behind the original facades you'll often find ageing switchboards, brittle wiring and nowhere near enough power points for how a household actually runs today.

Because I run the business myself, the person who quotes your job is the same person who turns up and does the work — no call centre, no rotating crew of subbies. Whether it's a single power point, a full rewire or an emergency callout, you deal with me from start to finish.

What Prospect homes actually call me for

Given the age of most Prospect housing, this is the work that comes up most often:

Recent jobs in Prospect

In June 2026 I attended a Churchill Road property to scope a full switchboard upgrade and compliance works — the site had a granny flat plus existing solar and battery, so the board had to be planned around more than a standard household load. The same month, on Highbury Street, a tripping lighting circuit turned out to be water ingress into a light fixture (a bird's nest at the roofline was the likely cause). I removed the affected fixture, made the cable safe in a compliant junction box, replaced three light switch mechanisms and fitted a 10A RCBO to add proper safety-switch protection to that circuit — while I was there I also flagged a switchboard with mixed-vintage, corroded devices and an asbestos-labelled enclosure for the owner to consider upgrading.

In August a Labrina Avenue property needed a longer list sorted in one visit: a faulty rangehood control, two new power points, a bathroom fan/light switch replacement, a heat lamp diagnosis and a couple of ceiling fan switches — the kind of accumulated small jobs that build up in an older Prospect home over a few years.

Emergency electrician in Prospect

Prospect's Art Deco and Californian bungalows often still run original circuit protection with little or no RCD safety switch, and it tends to show up as a sudden loss of power or a circuit that won't stay reset. If the power's out, a safety switch won't reset, or something smells hot, that's an emergency call — not a wait-till-Monday job.

Prospect electrical questions

My Prospect bungalow still has its original switchboard — should I be worried?

It's worth getting looked at. A lot of Prospect's Art Deco and Californian bungalows are still running original circuit protection with no RCD safety switch anywhere on the property, which is a real safety gap by today's standard.

Do you do rental compliance checks in Prospect?

Yes. Rental compliance and safety switch checks are a regular part of the work I do across Prospect and the surrounding inner north.

Can you work on older and heritage homes in Prospect?

Absolutely. A lot of Prospect's housing stock is from the 1920s to 1940s, often with old wiring, ceramic fuse boards and too few power points. I regularly rewire, re-board and add circuits to these homes while respecting the original fabric.

What electrical work is most common in Prospect?

Switchboard upgrades and rewiring on 1920s–1940s bungalows, safety switch installation, extra power points and renovation electrical for kitchens and bathrooms are what I see most often in Prospect.
